Club Romantica
Club Romantica by Friðgeir Einarsson, produced by Abendshow Theatre Club in collaboration with Reykjavík City Theatre.
On a visit to a flea market in Brussels, the Icelandic theatre-maker Friðgeir Einarsson purchased three photo albums containing snapshots of strangers. After flicking through the albums, he discovered that they all belonged to the same person; a Belgian woman who had traveled to Mallorca twice in the 70's, and married a decade later somewhere back in Belgium. After giving it thought for 10 years, Friðgeir decided to try to return the photo- graphs to their original owner. The problem was that he didn't know her name, age, address, or whether she would even want the photo albums back.
Club Romantica premiered 28th February 2019 in Reykjavík City Theatre and was performed for three years for a full house. Club Romantica received Gríman, The Icelandic Theatre Awards, in 2019 as play of the year aswell as being nominated for diector of the year, show of the year and music of the year
