Vaðlaheiðargöng

An existential play about the fragile relationship between man and nature. A piece about the most magnificent achievement in Iceland's history, about people who are a little dizzy and think that others can possibly see that there is something wrong and are staring at it, about people who just wish it was easier to go east.

Vaðlaheiðargöng (eng: the tunnel under the mountain Vaðlaheiði) is a devised show under the artistic direction of Karl Ágúst Þorbergsson. The work reflects the poetic beauty that appears in the construction history of Vaðlaheiðargöngi, the relationship between human everyday life and nature, and the impending end of everything following catastrophic global warming.

The performing arts group Engineers (project specialists) is relatively new, but its members have made a good name for themselves with diverse performances by performing arts groups such as 16 Lovers and Sómi þjóðar.

Vaðlaheiðargöng is a collaboration with the Reykjavík City Theater and premiered on February 2nd, 2024. The project is funded by the Ministry of Culture and Trade and the Artists' Salary Fund. This show is available for touring. For more information contact the shows producer Davíð Freyr Thorunnarson.
